New Music Available on the NieR: Automata Official Site

In preparation for the up-coming concert on Saturday, April 16, SQEX has just updated the: Automata official Web site with a gorgeous song in English. http://www.jp.square-enix.com/nier-new/

  • There is a new interview in the May 5, 2016 issue of Famitsu magazine (on sale April 21) detailing a ton more info regarding the up-coming music concert.
  • Also, they released the name of the non-Japanese vocalist in the new theme song as J’Nique Nicole or Nikki. I translated what’s published online here–>
    Famitsu interview about the concert

I tried to write out the lyrics, but I’m not sure on all of them. I have no clue what the title will actually be…but I’m calling this “The Weight of the World” for the time being. Special thanks to Anonymous for helping to edit my first draft of the lyrics.

I feel like I’m losing hope
in my body and my soul
and the sky, it looks so ominous

and as time comes to a halt
silence starts to overflow
my cries are inconspicuous

(Bridge)
tell me, God, are you punishing me?

is this the price I’m paying for my past mistakes?

this is my redemption song
I need you more than ever right now
can you hear me now?

(Refrain)
‘cause we’re gonna shout it loud

even if our words seem meaningless
it’s like I’m carrying the weight of the world

I wish that someway, somehow
that I can save everyone of us
but the truth is that I’m only one girl

maybe if I keep believing my dreams will come to life
come to life…

after all the laughter fades
signs of life all washed away
I can still, still feel the gentle breeze

no matter how hard I pray
signs of warning still remain
and life has become my enemy

Bridge x1
Refrain x2

still, we’re gonna shout it loud
even if our words seem meaningless
it’s like I’m carrying the weight of the world

I hope that someway, somehow
that I can save everyone of us
but the truth is that I’m only one girl

maybe if I keep believing my dreams will come to life
come to life…

Also, according to a new article on the Famitsu Web site, fans can expect to hear this song featured at the concert this coming weekend! I’m going to speculate that this will be the song that’s used in the new teaser trailer at the concert… Dengeki Online also wrote a little bit about this new song.

Gematsu also covered this news today.

Not digging this one. Sounds like every other generic Engrish song that plays during the ending credits of jrpgs. I’m looking for more like what is in the PGW trailer.

    • I imagine this will be used in the new trailer, just as Aoi Eir’s “Kuroi Uta” and Onitsuka Chihiro’s “This Silence is Mine” were used. I don’t believe it’s meant to be used ‘in game’, so we can’t compare this to past songs like “Grandma” and “Song of the Ancients”. Plus, if it’s like “This Silence is Mine”, she had a much larger hand in its composition. It may also be important to point out that this song seems like it will be entirely in English and sung by a native speaker. That alone gives the song a different impression from all the rest.

In terms of content as it relates to the story, I think the lyrics alone are highly poignant. If you haven’t read up about the YoRHa stage play, now might be a good time! 😀

  • name

    this is my redemption song

    prepared for android intoners, hmph

  • Tamy

This so reminded me of Leona

  • Tamy

    *Leona Lewis

  • The (speculated) lyrics kinda make me think that this is Joan of Arc’s song, heheh

    • Yeah. I didn’t think the mention of God or prayer seemed like it fit coming from a YoRHa android, but who knows. They could have evolved further to create a new sort of religion or at least the idea of a higher power to save them.

Ten months later, and the lyrics turn out to be more relevant than any of us could have imagined.
